How friendly are you??..??

I think every office has “that guy” or “that gal” that’s over the top friendly.  Always wanting to know how your day is going, or how your evening was, and then when you answer wants to sit and chat.  For me, there’s nothing  worse than having to be almost rude when someone just stands around looking at you, waiting patiently for you to start up a conversation with them.  I don’t like being rude or having that persona, but some people just need that push – they forget that there’s a “time and a place for everything”.

But when I read this “Daily dose of Dale” info, it made me think, do I come off as the person that’s only interested in their own well-being an not very friendly?  After-all we end up spending more time in the office than we do at home these days, so building friendships is sometimes the key to a happy healthy work environment.

Become a friendlier person

Principle #4:

Become genuinely interested in other people.

Regardless of the physical or financial assets an organization may have, it’s the people who make it successful.  They are an organization’s key asset, and getting getting to know them should be as high a priority as learning the technical aspects of one’s job.  The key is to be genuine.  Don’t get a reputation for only being interested when you want something.  Getting to know others should always be mutually beneficial. Dale Carnegie

This made me reevaluate my work environment.. does it you? Just a thought =)
